I have the opportunity to buy a used HK-27 lens hood for a AF-S 400/2.8 D IF-ED II (the next version after ours). According to the stats for the lenses found at: http://www.photosynthesis.co.nz/nikon/lenses.html#400 it seems the lenses are the same diameter and length.
