->> I recorded an audio piece today to go along with photos for a major pub and I didn't have the mic close enough to the subjects mouth while she was speaking. The sound is a bit low and I was wondering if there is a way to boost it or amplify it?

->> yes, it can. but it might cause some distortion of the file if there is a lot of ambient noise in the track...it will amplify everything, good and bad.

->> Right, boosting the gain in audio is like trying to pull details out of under/overexposed image. You will be able to better hear your subject, but the overall quality will be degraded a bit.

->> Thanks guys
I think it'll be OK to boost-up a little. It would be comparable to about a stop under. I also recorded it on the mode for the most minimal ambient sound. |

->> Sandy, try using Audacity's built-in noise reduction filter, but only set it to 50%. It'll help cut the noise a little bit, just don't go over board or your audio will sound like you were recording with a tin can!
