More Buzz on Canon's Aquisition of Express Digital

->> Could it be the perfect panacea? The program as it was originally conceptualized, WITHOUT the bugs...

Biggest plus... no more thousand dollar dongles for each computer you want it on. One program takes care of all viewstations!

->> I'm really surprised to see how little interest there is in this subject. So many here, whether your primary source of income is PJ work or not, still do youth event and T&I photography to supplement your income.

That being said, lack of interest in this begs the question... if you are a T&I guy and you are NOT using ED, then what are you using to fulfill your orders?

And if you think just because Canon owns it there won't be any bugs - well you must not have bought a Mark III.

->> I'm actually quite happy with PhotoParata. It's not as feature-rich as ED and doesn't integrate with an online lab, but it is reasonably priced, is a relatively simple and lightweight program, and suits my needs to a "T".

->> Paul - I stopped using ED once I figured out that I could create custom templates in PS, then hand them over to my lab for them to use with my orders. They do all the custom stuff for me after that (names, jersey numbers, etc.) using my templates. Easy as pie and less legwork for me when I'm busy.

->> Paul it depends on a number of factors. Bottom line is that I either use the lab's ROES program or an envelope based system where the lab does 100% of the packaging. In order to keep a bigger cut of the profits in my pocket I've been leaning more and more towards the lab based ROES.

I use photocart running on a local system when at events and also online as my self fullfilment system.

->> Rene how does that work for you??? I've thought of doing the same thing setting up a server with Apache etc. That was the basis of my original on-site setup.... How many view stations have you been able to host? Can we chart off board??
