->> Greg,
Edit tight, even if its less than the number of required images. I sent 4-5 photos less than required and still got in. Remember you're only as good as your worst photo. Also, they want to see personal vision. Don't show them photos you think they want to see. |

->> Greg. I am old. I was a student at the SECOND workshop (1989) and on the same team as fellow SportsShooter.com member David Eulitt (BLUE). Other SportsShooter.com members who attended year two of the EAW include Todd Rosenberg, Paul Morse, Patrick Murphy-Racey, a guy named Grover and possibly a few more that I might have missed.
This is an amazing experience. Do all you can to get in. You will remember this long weekend for the rest of your life. |

->> I helped judge applicant portfolios several times while an EAW board member and Mike is spot on. Tight edit, good pictures, personal point of view. Many of the best picture editors in the country will be scoring so it's a tough room and the work has to be solid. But, as Eddie once told me, "I don't care if they are still lifes as long as they are good pictures." His belief in a diverse teaching staff, presenters and students made EAW the best workshop out there. The eight years I was involved were some of the best in my career. I do miss conversations with Eddie but his light continues to shine through the work of everyone at Barnstorm.
Good luck. |

->> I went to the workshop in 1993, and wish I could return and do it all again!
David Alan Harvey and Kathy Ryan were my team leaders, I got to see my photographic idol, Pete Turner, give a rare presentation, and I got to shake hands and meet legends like Gordon Parks, Carl Mydans, and Joe Rosenthal. At one point we did a count, and there were 14-15 Pulitzer winners in the room.
If you're a student or young person just out of school, you should definitely apply. It could change your life. |

At one point in the workshop I and another student were looking around "The Barn" and Eddie Adams himself told us to get the hell out of is private area. |

I had the pleasure of meeting a lot of the participants when they came back to NYC immediately following the workshop while I was living in Queens at my internship. I've just heard a ton of amazing stories and I can only hope to have those to tell next year. |

I'm extremely excited and humbled to say that I've been accepted for BarnStorm XXIII and am curious to know who will be attending the 2010 workshop from the SportsShooter community?
Congrats to Sam Adams & Diego James Robles, whom I recognized from the published list... anyone else a sportsShooter member? |
