| ->> Very sad. Beyond losing longtime columnists and very talented reporters, including the Eugene sports beat reporter (U of Oregon sports) they also let go 1 photographer and a photo editor. Sad day in Portland indeed. |

->> Just when we were all feeling like the cuts were being replaced by furloughs and the like ... I notice that Eugene is listed there as well as Portland, ME ...
Pardon me while I keep my head down and stay out of sight.

| ->> Brian, Clark and I are all still employed. My condolences to those who were affected, here and at the "O." As has been mentioned, the newsroom was spared, save the permanent darkening of two already vacant positions (reporter and sports editor). I hope that the decision is an acknowledgment that more cuts on the 2nd floor would mortgage any hope for the future of the product, but the process of "right sizing" the company is a dollar and cents issue, not an aesthetic one, so we will see. |

->> I highly recommend anybody that got laid off to sign up for the Dislocated workers program through your unemployment agency. You get free money to go to school, free pell grants and the security that you will be getting unemployment for 2 plus years.
Hurry though you only get like 45 days from the day your laid off. |
