->> Anyone notice the photographers (seen in lower left corner of my TV screen when it pans left) using some sort of foam core or cardboard attached to the end of their lens? Why? What is the purpose?

There doesn't appear to be holes in the glass for the photographers to shoot. They are shooting through the plex....

->> If any of you folks want to know what it's like to shoot ice level hockey here in Vancouver, take a piece of saran wrap, wad it up a few times (go ahead and lick it for good measure), then wrap it over the front of your lens and try to get some shooting done.

Or, skip that and just have a colleague kick you in the nuts a good two or three times.

That's pretty much it. Welcome to the big leagues!!

->> Agree with Jeanine on the quality of photos from Vancouver.
That one of Ryan flipped in the air was so crisp and the
colors are so vivid it's hard to believe it's through the
plexiglass. Do they clean the glass for photographers at
the Olympics?

I'm usually shooting through smudges and puck marks which
have far more influence on the end result then any kind of
light reflections. I'm shooting from the causeways though
with no fans directly behind me who might have a pocket
cam with a flash.
