Help with benchmarking

->> I tried to send this through the Q/A board but it gave me an error msg saying there were no Mac users??? Don't get that but, oh well and here we are.

This weekend a client said they could not see captions under the photos in our photo galleries. I have not had a issue until their query this morning.

We are PC based and they are Mac users so I'm looking for a couple of Mac folks to who have the time to look at a a pair of links to tell me if they can view a caption under the photos or not.

I'd like to resolve the issue to see if it is something on our end or theirs.

Check out the links below and then email me with a yeah or neh and what OS/browser combo you used.

The links:

Thanks in advance for your help

->> Clark,

For what it's worth captions DO appear on photos for me. But only when not signed in. Once we sign in, they aren't there. I'll do some more testing on newer machines. But my office machine is Mac OS 10.4.11 with the newest versions of Safari and Firefox. I'll email you a few screen shots so you don't think I'm crazy. :)

->> It's looking the same logged in for me.

You're missing your doctypes and a few other things that'll cause cross-browser issues.

Having quotes in your meta tags might be causing it - Safari 3 has issues with it sometimes. Specifically, the tag on line 9 that continues through the next couple lines has a quote where it doesn't belong... Your CMS needs to convert " to " to take care of that.

You might also have various issues with nonstandard uses of script tags, etc, but that shouldn't cause what you're running into.

See
http://validator.w3.org/ - if it validates cleanly it's a good start.

->> Thanks Rhonda and Israel for your input. Upon further review I did find there is an issue after all. Travis has a special login and I created a similar account for myself, logged in and see there is indeed a problem.

At this point no further testing is needed. The issue is not browser or OS related. There is a more global issue that is going to take some time to locate :-(
