->> Front end - hosted by A5 is html, about 5 or 6 web pages
back end - integrated with PhotoShelter - contains imagery and sales portal. I handled the integration, it isn't as seemless as others but it works.

->> Hostdog.net for my site, PhotoShelter for my editorial archive built in, Exposure Manager for print sales built in.
Editorial direct

(needs updating)

has both, but the print (youth) side is a cluster of a mess. |

->> I think you should go beyond html. Your website represents you, so it should be the best it can be.
I personally use an html-based blogger site since I am still a student, but once I have a portfolio and am out looking for work, that is the first thing I'll change.

->> I used html, css, and JavaScript libraries to build a new site from scratch in January. The JQuery library Galleria was really useful to get nice flash like transitions in the image galleries, but it loads quickly, and works on an iPhone. It definitely took a lot of time to get it to look exactly how I wanted it, but in the end I had the full control I wanted.
I am working on adding a blog to the site using wordpress. My hosting is through netfirms.com and I have been quite happy.

->> A friend of mine built my site with a PHP framework using CakePHP. It's basically a combination of HTML and Javascript (Ajax) to give it a Flash look, without actually being Flash.

It's a hell of a lot easier than Flash to update stuff with the tools he built for me, although it's not that hard to figure out if you learn a little bit of PHP/MySQL programming language, too. In theory, it should be more search-engine friendly, but I really don't see tons of Google-driven traffic, which may another problem entirely (if anyone wants to contact me off-board with some suggestions, I'd appreciate any insights). I've also got a WordPress blog hosted under my domain and a Photoshelter archive going as well.
I'm hosted on Dreamhost (http://www.dreamhost.com), and they're absolutely fantastic. |

->> My site is mostly HTML/CSS. Right now, the photo galleries are using Autoviewer, a flash gallery, and the videos are hosted on Vimeo, which uses a flash player. As for the blog, that's a custom installation of Wordpress. Eventually, I'd like to get rid of the flash and transition the whole site onto the Wordpress CMS. I'm hosted with MediaTemple, which has been great.

->> I'm using www.Squarespace.com for my website. It uses javascript for galleries. 80% of my traffic is referred from Google image searches. They host and content manage my site.
Run, don't walk away from those flash websites.
