->> So I found one at a local mac store here and made the plunge.
The screen is just fricken HUGE! I have not had a chance to decode anything yet, but I plan on trying Aperture 3 here soon.
Can anyone recommend a way to get a good calibration on it? I have Spyder 3 Elite device.
Any other advice on this thing?
Thanks |

->> Matt,
My friend just switched and I had him get the i7. It's fast, and the iMac is really nice, but my concern is regarding the screen having weird coloration across the screen. That may not be something that can be fixed, so be sure to test your screen as soon as you can.
Other than that, it's a great machine, can even be used as a monitor for a second computer, which means I might get one just to run my tower as a batch processing computer..
Enjoy it.

->> Max,
I talked to the sales guy about that very thing when purchasing.
His answer was that he believes Apple fixed the issue. I know I read that at one time they went from 2 to 3 days to 3 weeks because they were fixing that same issue.
Again I have not followed it fully, but I did have that conversation with the guy.
Hopefully they fixed it, because this screen is HUGE lol And I thought the 24 inch was big, geez |

->> Matt,
I have the i5 and am loving it. I too was excited to try the new Aperture 3.
I wanted it specifically because it handles HD video. I shot some video, imported it into the library, trimmed many files in the library, then selected those files for a slideshow with some other stills.
In the slideshow, all the trimming I did was lost when the video clips were added to the slideshow. I was not happy after spending the time, I can't find any issues about this listed anywhere, seems like others should be seeing this also, but can't find any mentions.
Let me know if you try it out what your results are.
Thanks!
And yes, the 27" in big! |

->> Speaking of video, has anyone here tried using Final Cut Pro on one of the 27" models? Just wondering about the rendering, general performance, etc.
They're certainly very tempting, at more than $1,000 cheaper than some of the towers and with the enormous screen. |

->> I am ripping some dvds right now and from my quad cord E6600 my speeds have doubled and tripled when I am not in VMWare.
Very fast, a little buyers remorse, but not so much today as there was yesterday lol |

->> Well Houston we have a problem.
I believe my monitor suffers from the yellow issue. Looking at white background when loading it is a mixture of yellow and white, grays look dirty and yellow.
My images no matter what have a ting of yellow in them. :(
I can't tell you how bummed out I am right now, I love this computer but I can't have this yellow coloring when I am processing images.
This mac is fast, loading images, exporting, ripping dvds, it is nothing for this computer. |

->> Max,
I think my eyes were seeing things. I think the ting of yellow/orange was from my sypder 3 adding too much warmth to my calibration.
I did a calibration through mac's and did some prints, much much better. Prints matched my screen.
There is still a very very slight yellow near the bottom, but my wife could barely see it and my bro in law saw nothing.
I will though once I get up to Spokane probably take it to an authorized dealer that Apple Care told me to go to once I get settled.
Thanks Max for taking the time to post the link! |

| ->> I picked up an i5 the other day from my local college store. Love the screen. Just finishing installing all the software and so far I'm very impressed. Photoshop loads in about 2 seconds and all the batch processes I run on images take no time at all. |

->> I've had the 27in i5 at home since Dec. and love it. I just edited a video in Final Cut Pro on it and it was as fast as my 8-core at work. Aperture 3 runs great--finally--and iMac screen is a thing of beauty. I do not notice the reflections either.
I was worried it would have some of the defects early models suffered from, but mine arrived in perfect condition. I did get Apple Care just in case.

->> Wow, as fast as an 8-core?? Doesn't seem right, especially given each's prices.
Great video Colin! |
