Give me a break. He just keeps digging that hole deeper and deeper! Someone please fire whoever is advising this guy |

Was it just me or did anyone else notice he didn't get pissed once all the times where the camera shutters were going off. |

| ->> I thought he meant it when he said that he took responsibility for what happened and was sorry for the pain he had caused his friends and family, but I thought the whole thing was way too scripted and stage managed. I also couldn't help think of a prison execution the way the room was set up, and invited people where neatly seated and sat still, the condemned entered, and then after he left the invited guests were excused. |

->> the only person he needs to apologize to is his wife....
who cares if it was staged...when you basically have the whole world watching and analyzing every world you say, wouldn't you want a script?
put yourself in his shoes.
i don't understand why people feel that he owes them a certain kind of apology or one for that matter? |

| ->> Me I think he does owe an apology to everyone, a real one not that acting job yesterday. I believe because of all the advertising dollars he made selling himself and what he "stood for." In terms of an apology to his wife that was the only thing he said that was right, to the rest of us well maybe any ad dollars he gets for the rest of his life should be sent to charities that have nothing to do with his own and anyone he knows for the rest of his life. He has become ultra rich selling himself. Also he should not have gone after the media in any way. You make that kind of money off of a public image, get ready to have your picture taken. |

->> He's going thru the 12 steps. The first step is acceptance that one's life has become unmanageable. Step 8 is to make a list of all of those harmed and become willing to make amends to all of them.
Do I think Tiger was sincere? As Anantachai points out, the primary apology needs to be made to Tiger's wife and it's really no one else's business. I believe Tiger really does feel regret. The cynic in me says one usually does when they get caught.
So why the press conference? Unfortunately, I think that this was for the PGA and the sponsors. Part of Tiger is being egged on by his staff and the PGA/Sponsors. They want things to go back to "normal". Translation: Money
IF and this is a big IF, he really truly gets the therapy - he may say that the pressure is too much, and that he doesn't want to play professional golf anymore. What would happen if Tiger said screw it? Can you imagine the disaster for the PGA? A lot of people will have to look for new work.
For those that have never been in group therapy, it's easy to say it was all a set up. I guarantee you, if he's in group therapy, no one will give a rats ass that he's Tiger Woods. If they smell BS they will tear him apart.
None of this guarantees that Tiger will make the changes. My read from the press conference was that he was struggling with his choices. Was there, but didn't want to be there. He said he was going back to the in house therapy today. That to me is a good sign.
If he comes back, and is the same a$$Hole he was before, I'd be willing to bet nothing will change, except when he cheats he'll be a lot more careful.
If, on the other hand, he seems quieter, more peaceful, dare I say more humble.. then there's a good chance something worked. |

->> David, i completely disagree. I buy Nike shoes and shirts because they look good, not because Tiger wears them. When I buy my first Tag Heuer watch, it is because they look DAMN good..especially the Carrera line. :)
As far as the donating idea, that is plain ridiculous. How much money and time has he donated himself to charity? He is VERY rich because he kicks ass on the golf course, and has made the other PGA Tour players very rich. If the sponsors want to pay him good money to show his face, then that's their decision. I'd be willing to bet, they made A LOT of money with Tiger as well.
He cheated on his wife...there has been many a men and woman have done the same. Why just because he makes millions for being on TV should everyone needs to know "how and why"? or apologize to the nation for that? Come on, all three major networks televised the "Apology".....seems like they were trying to make a buck also.
Like Michael said......what if he doesn't come back? You can say all you want about Golf was here before Tiger...blah blah blah. People like me (i'm a golfer) will not be watching as much golf or any at all, major or not. Same thing when Jordan left, I stopped watching the NBA. |

I want to back up what Micahael Fischer said. I thought TW was presenting himself as sincere and contrite and he meant every word he uttered. Whether it was scripted, so what?
Of course, I'm the guy who gave Nixon the benefit of the doubt until the smoking gun appeared. So, time will tell. |

->> It appears that many people want TW to sit down at a full blown press conference. Tell me, what would that accomplish?
In the end, it is my opinion, that people who have been helping promote the "Tiger is a regular guy" position are pissed off because they have been bamboozled. They want their pound of flesh.
The only people that need his apology are his wife, his children, and his employees. I am sure he has tried to do that. My guess is that his wife has a bit longer time line in mind. Getting caught and saying I am sorry, is too trite.
This process takes years in an average marriage. In a public situation like this, with all of the vultures out there wanting to relive each and every encounter this guy had--names, places, situations--it will hound him for years. For his wife's sake, he needs to keep his mouth shut. Otherwise this will never be achievable.
The questions such as, "what were you thinking?" and "didn't you think of your wife?" are common. The problem is that his answers, if he is honest, will sound cold and trite. At the times of his encounters he was NOT thinking. In some minds that blowing through the boundaries is in comprehensible. In the mind of a serial cheater boundaries are just not considered. Right or wrong, that is the answer. Not very satisfying is it?
In this day and age, his career may survive, but his marriage is toast. A vast majority of marriages survive infidelity--for a number of reasons. In the end though, Tiger and his wife will find that every time he steps out in public he is going to be hounded. Many men change because of their kids. Tiger will give up to protect his kids. Its too bad, and I wish them well. |

->> Tiger Woods has flown all over the world and has been greeted as if he were royalty, has made millions of dollars, and has had sex with pretty much anyone in whom he has ever had so much as a fleeting curiosity.
Is it possible that maybe, just maybe, he's really not sorry? Regret and remorse are not always the same thing. One can regret getting caught and not feel any real remorse. |
