->> Trying to archive some old stuff.
What are you all using for slide/neg scanning?
Would be happy if I could get more than a 5megapixel file.
Thanks,

->> Nikon Coolscan V, bought it new but now they are out of production.
The Epson V750 is alright for 35mm but better suited to 120 roll film or large format.
Nikon scanners are pretty hot commodities on eBay, shop wisely. |

->> Epson Perfection (thanks Walt, *grin*) for large or odd format negs like the recently discovered box of 40-70 year old family negs I found. Nikon Coolscan IV on loan from a co-worker for 35mm. I'm pretty happy with both, except I had forgotten how long it takes to scan photos.
Not to hijack the thread, but it has been fun scanning images shot as a stringer for the AP pre-contract because I own them (except for the fact that 75% of the sports images were shot on Kodak 1600 - ugh). |

->> I'm using a Wolverine F2D that I bought at BJ's (Costco has them, too) for $89, which copies your negs in five seconds. It gives me about a 12M file. I'll probably invest in a higher-end Epson eventually, but for $89 it does fine on 75 percent or more of the images (best to be a properly exposed image). Maybe someday I'll get a Coolscan. (I remember the days when the Kodak scanner took more than four minutes to acquire an image.)
This, and my images on my twitter account, were scanned with the Wolverine (does anyone know who the banjo player is? The guy at right is Stu Mossman of Mossman guitars):
