->> Apparently the Vonn cover is causing some angst. It never even crossed my mind that her pose was anything other than one indicative of a down-hill skier's position. This morning my wife sees my SI on the table and says that she read online yesterday that it's causing controversy. Naturally I didn't believe her -- she tends to get facts wrong. =^)
That said, I poked around the web and sure enough, some folks are upset. "Womantalksports.com say that 4% of Sports Illustrated covershots show that women “are more likely than not to be in sexualized poses and not in action – and the most recent Vonn cover is no exception.”" That quote can be found in this blog: http://indyposted.com/10403/lindsey-vonn-sports-illustrated-cover-draws-con.../
I'm a guy - but nothing of the sort crossed my mind. I did notice that she was pretty but the image conveyed to me that she's a SKIER and that skiers ski in that position.
Thoughts? How about our female members -- what's your take? |
