Super Bowl "Media" Day Sights & Sounds.

->> My colleague H. Darr Beiser is down in South Florida with picture editor Andrew Scott ... today was the annual silliness: Super Bowl "Media" Day.

When Vic "the Brick" Jacobs and "American Idol" are there, you know they are stretching the definition of the word "media". I imagine this day drives NFL beat writers nuts:

Hopefully it will be great game on Sunday!

->> Bert,

I spotted Junior Seau doing his "do another job for a day" thing; the high-five guys, and a the pictured latin network "reporter" walking around with black wings on her back. Not to mention the American Idol people and thankfully I didn't actually spy Chad Ochocinco doing his OCNN "reporting."

Sadly there are a few reporters who want to ask serious questions but more and more it's just "reporters" who want to show off themselves rather than the players.

->> Matthew,

Sure the questions are pretty much the same and because the reporters move and the players are stationary they get the same question 10 times in an hour.

But there are reporters here who are looking for a sound bite or quote or two for a story they have to file to their publications/station etc.

However, some yahoo in a caveman suit is too busy trying to get a player to say "The morning zoo rocks" or do a goofy standup where the "reporter" is the star, not the players who have amassed the best records in the league and are playing for the title.

And, for the record, I would not have been in media day at all but I went up for the 1 p.m. photo meeting and because they were running late the Saints still had nearly 45 minutes of their media session still to go -- the session that was supposed to stop at 1.
