| ->> Albert- Unfortunately they pay cheap subscription fees (as do all the sports websites) to all the wire services that come out to between $3 and $6 per photo. Thus it is not a very lucrative market. |

->> Albert,
I'm wondering if you are a photographer for MaxPreps and have photos of a top recruit and questioning the latest email? |

| ->> I received $50 from MaxPreps for an image of a D1 basketball prospect that was in one of my MaxPreps galleries. It appeared on the SI High School web site. |

| ->> My experience is similar to Brad's. They don't pay enough to charge the battery for the camera. Blogs are even worse. |

| ->> Yes, I know that the market is not lucrative but, SI, ESPN and CBS are tops in world of sports. A freelance from the past once told me that he sold to TIMES magazine. The Buffalo BIlls just won the Championship as fan ran on the field and jumping on the goal post. You may know that photo, with the money he purchased a Nikon F4 back in the day's. I just figured that their the big guy's. |

->> Back then the top of the line cameras like the F4 were also around 500 bucks- the equivalent of the standard Time Inc. space rate for a full page photograph being published.
When the Internet started we were able to get $75- $125 per photo published. But then web-based distribution, etc. became faster and easier and soon all the wires/agencies worked out super cheap all you can eat buffet monthly subscription fees and it all ended.
Unless you do a specific assignment for one of the sites, or unless you have something VERY special and unique you will not get rich.
And one more thing- the Bills have never won a championship- they came in second place four years in a row- a record :-) |

->> My average sale is between $2.00 - $10.00 on ESPN, CNN and Sports Illustrated. What hurts is these companies pay wire services a set fee say $1,000 for the month for all the photos they can use. So say ESPN downloads 300 photos that $1,000 gets divided between the agency and all the shooters. So just doing the math $500 to the agency and 500 to say 200 shooters equals $2.50 a photo.
Most I ever got for a web photo was $10.00, least I got was $2.00 |

->> Chris - I was wondering the same thing, not sure who would have given you a "huh" on that...strange system.
Least I've gotten, though don't shoot for a wire all too much, is $5/image and most was $20 for online - lately at least. MaxPreps is paying a bit more than that in their deal so not all that bad. |

->> I got $50 for a website image...I've been working with the publishing company; I get an email "Hey - I used your image on our webpage and have a check for $50 waiting for you - is that ok?"
"Sure thing"

->> Hey Mike,
I don't understand the huh either, I like that MaxPreps sets up a way for us to get paid with usage on recruit sites and SI. I think some may think I was questioning the amount being paid out which is not the case.
