Nikon Downsizes Three NPS Representatives

->> I have learned that Nikon decided to downsize their NPS staff by three long-time employees, including Carol Fisher. This comes as a big surprise, right before the winter Olympic games.
If you have ever been to an MPW, WKU Mountain Workshop, Eddie Adams, ATL PJ Seminar, NPPA convention, Olympic Games, Final Four, Waco Texas standoff, Presidential Inauguration, Kentucky Derby, or CPOY/POYi event, you knew her and of course, the M&Ms she gave out along with tech advice and much-needed moral support.
I know she has been a great asset to the Missouri Photojournalism program over the years. I know many of you "switched to Nikon" because of her service with the program, but she was also a great editor, friend, and psychiatrist for us during some stressful events.
So no more M&Ms.
If you want to get in touch, her new email is cfysher [AT] comcast [DOT] net. Message me if you need a phone number.
I am sure she would appreciate any support you might have, either here publicly in this forum, or via email to her directly. |

I sure hope the rules of karma kick in and resolve this situation. May this rep and any others in such a situation land on the ground running. |

->> It's been about two years now since Nikon/NPS closed their D.C. office and Scott Andrews crossed the aisle for C.P.S.
Scott was Nikon at the Kennedy Space Center. Much of the remotes he made available was personally brainstormed and built by him and his family. Visiting photographers, many of whom were covering a launch for the first time, essentially had their images handed to them as a result of Scott's thorough and generous efforts. The same was true for events on Capitol Hill requiring remotes.
Scott changed hats and became an ambassador for CPS doing virtually the same thing as before.
It is unfortunate for the other NPS tech reps. This doesn't look good for Nikon, particularly right before the Olympics. |

->> Just don't get this. The camera companies are making record profits, but cutting their professonal staffs...
I'm sure it's a bottom line issue to some bean-counter, but some things you just can't put a value on. |

->> So sorry to hear this. I shoot Canon, but I spent some time with Carol and her husband in Hawaii last year. Awesome lady for sure. She will be missed by many in that role, I'm quite sure.
Carol, if you are reading here, I wish you the very best. I'm sure whatever the outcome of this transition, it will be for the better. |

->> I would have never gotten a decent shot of the shuttle launching without the help of Scott Andrews.
More and more, i dont try to borrow anything from NPS. I get tired of hearing "NO" all the time. |

| ->> It's horrible that they're losing 3 people. None the less I've rarely had issues getting loaners or eval copies when I've needed or asked. Granted trying to borrow a 200-400 while the Olympics were going on wasn't one of my clearest moments. |

->> +1 Eric,
I always get the best service form the NPS Crew in Melville, Debbie, Carrie and Melissa!!
The only time I had a hard time borrowing a lens was the 200-4-- when the World Series was going on, not one of my clearest moments either ;) |
