Firewire SD card reader?

->> With the current crop of SD cards (all the way up to the new "Class 10" standard), that's like putting a V8 into a Volkswagen Beetle. No matter how much horsepower you put into the thing, it's only going to go so fast.
In other words...SD cards top out in a plain-vanilla USB 2.0 reader (never mind UDMA). While I agree a Firewire multi-card reader might be convenient, there's no advantage to it...and almost anything that has a Firewire port will also have (probably more) USB ports and cost a lot less to make as well.
Get yourself one of Lexar's pop-up, dual-slot CF/SD readers...it supports UDMA for the CF card, and the SD slot is handy. It's no larger than a standard CF-only reader and cheaper than a Firewire reader. |
