Photographer profile videos

->> I saw some photographer profile videos over on strobist.com, which inspired me to try my hand at one for my girlfriend. She does art and illustration, but it's the same general idea.
As photographers, is this something you'd be interested in having done to promote yourself? I'm thinking of packaging this up and selling it as a service. Any comments or feedback on the idea would be appreciated.
Here's the link to the sample video I put together:

->> Sean, nice work. Do you have the link to the one on strobist? I would like to see that one.
I am not certain if it a viable marketing tool. However, with the proper art work and monologue a piece like this could be a nice addition to a "about me" page on someone's website. |

->> It's great. Looks clean and it's a nice introduction. I think a lot photographers would love to have something like this on their website. Seems like a great promotional piece- shows the work and a little personality.
I've been planning for the longest time to put one together for myself, basically a "reel" but procrastination has had the better of me on this, among other things.
I was in a conversation with other PJ's, we all happen to shoot video too, and we couldn't agree on whether our individual videos should show us or just have a voice over, others felt that only our work should show. But I guess as the director you could work that out with your subject. Nice job. |

->> I really liked your video too Sean. She is so talented, and you gave us snippets of her work throughout the video. I watched to the end just to see more teases of her work.
Nice job! |

I will link back to your website with a photo credit if you do mine! Or give you bar food. Your choice. |

->> Hey Sean, you've got a great little video there, well done and clean.
As for myself. I would not be interested in that service, but I think you've got a good idea. Surely there are some out there that would like that video created for their website.
Daniel, your attempt at comedy was not entirely bad. I smiled when I first read it. grin.

->> Sean, I think the video is well produced; but consider that you are marketing to a group that in large part:
1) appears to be struggling with cashflow, and
2) is something many photographers could do themselves, in their own particular style as a self-promo piece.
Not meant to discourage, just meant as honest observation. |
