To help with relief efforts, text "HAITI" to "90999" and $10 will be given automatically to the Red Cross, charged to your cell phone bill.
When you send the text you get a response from the Red Cross in seconds to confirm and you are done. It can't be much easier folks. these people are going to need some serious help. |

->> hmmm...i think i need to reword this..."mailing your donation to your charity of choice is faster"
your donation will reach the charity faster and be more useful if you donate online or mail it in.
while texting is convenient and easy, the money is not sent right away and depending on your billing cycle, how long you take to pay your bill and the check writing cycles of the phone company and the 3rd party intermediary, your donation may not be received until 30, 60 or even 90 days...or more.
Haiti needs help NOW!
please do your research and donate ONLINE or MAIL your donation to the charity of your choice so that the charities that are already in place can use your donation and better serve the Haitian people immediately.

->> While I appreciate and agree with Darrell's posts, Haiti is also going to need lots of money 30, 60, 90, 180, 360+ days from now and I feel any help, in any way at any time is going to be needed.
If the 15 seconds it takes to contribute your help via a text message solution works for you then do it now. Even getting only part of the money in 90 days is better than $0 if you forget to take the time to find another way of giving later. |
