Nikon scanners?
Ron Erdrich, Photographer
Abilene | TX | USA | Posted: 2:53 PM on 01.08.10
->> Anyone know if Nikon is coming out with new film scanners this year? The LS-5000 and 9000 have been unavailable since November. The 5000 is listed as discontinued everywhere I look, as is the 9000.

Thanks all.

-Ron-

that said ... I have a co-worker who would like to know the same thing.

So, anyone?

->> I have a Nikon Super Coolscan 8000 I haven't used in over a year - it is basically the exact same scanner as the 9000. Drop me an email if you want to make me an offer.

->> From what I've heard Nikon is still producing the 5000 and 9000, but in very small quantities, not very often.

When a former employer of mine purchased 2 5000's in 2007 we waited 6 months on back order, the dealer said they were waiting for the next production.

I personally have a 5000 in my home office and love it. I wish I had a 9000 for my the medium format I still occasionally shoot.

->> Pure speculation, but I heard a rumor a while back that Nikon was getting out of the scanner business eventually. I currently have a 9000 and it's much faster than the 8000.
