| ->> I need some advice about pricing and if I should sell my gear as a package or as individual items. My equipment i have is a rebel XT with the kit lens, canon 70-200 f/2.8L non-IS, 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS lens, canon 1.4x extender, a canon 430EX flash and a Naneu Pro bag. Also I have 3 CF cards. 1 Sandisk 4.0gb card, 1 Sandisk 2.0gb card and a promaster 1gb card I need some money for some stuff I want to do this summer. Any advice would be grateful. Thanks a lot guys!!! |

->> Check eBay for going rates on these items.
Sell separately, you will get more out of them. |

->> You will get more for your equipment if you sell it individually. I have done both on eBay and selling individually brings more money. It is more work for you though.
As far as pricing goes, just go in to eBay and check like items and what they sold for. Hope that this helps. |

->> I'd package the Rebel, the kit lens, and the 28-135 for sure. You can potentially put the bag and flash in this too if you'd like.
Since cards are so cheap, it'll be hard to sell your cards individually. You can bundle them with the camera or you can sell the three as a set.
The zoom telephoto and the teleconverter can go together as well, but I'd keep them separate, but that's just me. |

| ->> Having been in the same place you are and having sold off most of my Canon gear in the last month, I must tell you that the market value of the Canon stuff is dropping quickly, so do some quick research and get it up for sale ASAP. I even saw a MarkIIn go up for sale for a grand just recently. A mint condtion Mark IIn!!! It's getting crazy. Even if you aren't a member of Fred Miranda, get on their Buy and Sell and see the going rates. Price from there. Ebay is okay as a judge, but FM is better... photographer to photographer. Also, understand that some pieces hold their value better than others. You'll get a decent price on the 70-200, but will take your lumps with the other stuff. It's simple supply and demand against a tough econonomy and with a company that's trying to stop the bleeding with its pro line at this point. Not a good combination. Sell quickly! |

->> To double what others have said, I'd definitely go to Fredmiranda to sell your stuff. They only charge an annual fee to sell and it's a photo community there that can help you get the best price.
The Rebel and the kit lens is something that is perpetually dropping in demand - thus value. I'd try to sell that one asap. There is no short supply of the 28-135, but given that it's still in production, you should be able to get a decent amount for that. And as with most L lens, the 70-200 will be relatively steady in demand and price. Good luck. |

| ->> Can't I just put a classified ad on here or would that Frediranda place be better? Also is it a problem I can't find the box for the 70-200? |

| ->> Also, try a bulletin board at a local college's photo dept, you'll find lots of interest in students who want to go the used route. |

->> Of course you can put a classified here. However, consider the composition of membership here and the relative demand for a rebel and kit lens. The buy/sell forums on fredmiranda.com and photograph-on-the.net have many multiples more traffic specifically related to buying and selling and a membership that spans the guy that just bought his first camera yesterday to seasoned pros.
Also, many non-members view equipment offered here on SS to have heavier use (and thus less value) as the members are predominantly working pros, than on the other boards where hobbyists and "gear collectors" are more common.
Expect to take a hit on value of at least $25 - $50 for not having the box (and pouches and even blank warranty cards on gear well out of warranty). Box worship is very real.
Craig's list is another option - deal in cash only, meet in a public place.
There is no reason you can't list your gear on all of the places. |

| ->> I thinking about listing my 70-200 and my 1.4x extender on here or on ebay. fredmiranda.com won't let people with a yahoo email address sign up. |

->> Food for thought Eric. If you sell your 2.8 and your strobe how long is it before your going to need or want to buy them again ? The cost of new fast glass is climbing rapidly as evident in the announcement of the V2 of the 2.8 IS so you may end up losing more money in the long run selling now and buying later. I understand if you are doing a gear swap but if your just liquidating all your gear for cash for other activities assuming these activities are not vital to life such as eating, breathing, paying rent or paying off bets to a pissed off bookie named Earl then I would take a second to think things over and unless your in serious financial distress I would not sell things that could make you money. As always this is just one opinion among many and in the end you know what you want to do more than anyone here can.
If you decide to sell I will give our intern a heads up... He just received his new paper weight back from CPS... He went swimming with a 3 day old 70-200mm |

| ->> I love shooting sports and taking photographs but right now with the price of equipment. I can't afford to get a better body to have people look at me for a job. Right now since I left college my camera doesn't get used as much as I would like to use it. This summer I was planning to do some professional caddying on a golf tour but I guess I could just hold off on selling my gear and try to save with the job I have now. |
