Monolights with PocketWizard card
Les Schofer, Assistant

->> I am working up a lighting plan for my University's ice hockey arena and our swimming pool. I have already had custom mounting brackets and dedicated electricity installed in ice arena and plan to do same for pool. So far I have experimented successfully with White Lightning x800’s and they provide enough light, but I would like to purchase monolights that have internal Pocket Wizard cards. These lights will not be permanently installed, but moved from one venue to another as appropriate. Any recommendations out there?

->> You could jut run some zip line in each arena and leave it up there permanently. Just plug in the wizard and the lights to the line and you're good to go. Seems much more reliable as you can pick where you place the wizard as well.

->> Rich- He's already got lights, plus those are only 600 Ws though. Then again, I'm shocked Les is getting away with 330 Ws from the x800. The lights must be off at the venues or something.

Les- Personally, I'd run a permanent zip line. It's far more reliable and far less expensive.

->> Not to mention a lot less risky. As soon as you lose a light (which happens), you'd be losing a pocketwizard as well. I'd go with the sync line, that way you can use your transmitters/receivers elsewhere/with other lights.
