->> Need some advice...
I was all set to buy the Mark IV when it came out BUT also want to get a pair of PW and equipment to use remote cameras.
The 7D with Grip is about $1900
2 Multmax PW are about $525 Plus II are $330
Cable $100
magic wand with Extra clamps $200
Total $2725 or less if Plus II Vs the Mark IV at $5000. Even if I add in $500 for a net cam box and $900 for a fisheye I am still well under the 5K.
I have two mark IIn's lenses from the 17-40 to the 300 and easily rent anything I need for week-ends.
What would you get?
How good is the 7D at high ISO?
Looking forward to your thoughts and opinions

| ->> Jim - Lots of questions going on here. If you purchase a Mark IV then you really are not planning to do a remote. If you want to have a remote camera there are many options, a 20D all the way up to a 7D. The 7D seems to be an expensive solution to this problem (considering the limited amount of use this camera will get). Buy a used camera & experiment. The PW Plus II will work just fine. Cables can be made cheaply versus $100. A fisheye would get very old after 1 or 2 photo shoots in my opinion. If you need gear, send me an email & perhaps I can help you out. |

->> It depends on how important the remote is for you.
Personally I would by the Mark IV, save more money and then buy the remote equipment I need. |

->> Mark,
I agree it is either the Mark IV or the remote gear. just want to get input to see what others would do.
I used the 7D in the formula since when I am not using remotes this could be a very good back up. However is not necessary since I could use on of my Mark IIN's.
the 20D would work but I am trying to get better high ISO and it seems the 7D is better than my IIn's.
Thanks for the input of the PW plus II that is a savings and I did find some cables for $30 bucks.
Do you have two PW pluss II's for sale and cable?
I am leaning towards buying all of what I need, the lower cost items, and renting the higher end, 7D and fisheye possibly the PW to see how it goes
It is nice having lensprotogo.com 15 minutes away!!
Would love to hear more opinions.

->> That 7d is a dog as far as I'm concerned. The image quality is just poor. Images are softish. I had it for a week then returned it. It does good at high ISO, but my mk2N ran circles around it in terms of sharpness.
Others have said this within this forum, and if you google "7d and soft images" you'll find some eye opening stuff. |
