->> I just re-read this AJR article from late 2008 about National Public Radio's efforts to produce multimedia slideshows for their website, in addition to their on-air audio productions:

This has me curious... has anyone done any work as a radio station photographer? Odd as it sounds, multimedia pieces could be a way for stations to drive traffic to their websites (assuming they could find a way to make website advertising revenue pay for the endeavor) and possibly increase listenership. |

->> Curtis,
I had thought about doing some radio station photography for some time, I had recently decided that I did not have time to do it. However, I have talked to several stations and I like to think I might have an Idea of what they are looking for. The majority of the shooting you will mostly do is in studio and at events. After talking with several stations in my area, they will sometimes look for photographers to cover their bigger events or the concerts. The only other time they said that the stations said they would really need a photographer is when the station would have a big name artist coming into the station. All of this probably depends on the area in which you live but at least in my area it didn't seem worth the time. |
