5D & 7D VIDEO FILES

| ->> I'm converting 5D video files to Apple Pro$es 422 to make them easier to deal with in Final Cut Pro, is that what you guys are doing? And if so, are you keeping the raw video file too? I am running out of space and can't buy new drives right now. |

this guy's work-around allows the files to be just about the same size as the native files. i've tried it, and it works well. apple pro res makes the transcoded files way too large.
it's always a good idea to keep the original files; just a general rule, i think. |

->> I convert to XDCAM EX to match my Sony EX1. It's about 16 GB / hour of footage.
Once I see there aren't any problems with the conversion, I trash the originals and make a backup of the converted files. |
