Rescue Pro recovery software codes
Erik Markov, Photographer

->> I just bought two Sandisk cf cards and they came with activation codes for their Rescue Pro recovery software.

It's from LC Tech and I already have some of their Media Rescue software from Calumet Photo which I really like so I don't need the codes for Rescue Pro. I d/l it and ran it as a demo (w/o using a code) and it seems like it works pretty decent, I've been using the Media Medic for a while so I haven't kept on the progress of recovery software, but it did a good job of recovering photos on the one card I grabbed.

In the spirit of the holiday season, I'm going to give the codes to TWO people. Sorry, but there are rules.

1. I'm going to say students/or interns only that are SS.com members, that seems fair.

2. Post a reply to this message. Who ever the first two are, get the codes. I will go to your member pages and email you the website and codes.

3. PLEASE, make sure you really need it. If you can afford to buy the software, then don't reply just for the hell of it just because you want a code. I'd like it to be someone who REALLY needs it but might be having a tough time with the economy and all.

Remember, it's the first two to respond to this post.

That's it. If you don't get one of the codes, please don't complain, that's life.

AND for all that is good in the world, please don't fill my email box with messages how you're the one who should get. I don't want to spend the next week deleting messages, and I'm not going to respond, so just don't do it.

If you somehow can't follow the rules I'm pretty sure all you'll get in your stocking this year is an already exposed roll of Kodak T-Max 400.

->> Well this is a month and a half late, but it's the first thing I thought of...

I was shooting a track meet today and when I went to upload the images for the site I was working for, I discovered that one of my cards wasn't being recognized at all. I restarted, tried another card reader, nothing. The camera can still recognize the images, but not the computer. I tried a free recovery program that's worked in the past, but couldn't pull anything from this card tonight.

Now I regret not responding to this thread the first time around... it applies to me now, but at the time, even though I was still a poor student, I thought that free software would be enough for anything that came up. :/

->> Two very generous photographers have already e-mailed me codes, so no need anymore! Thanks so much to Ralph Mawyer and Erik Markov.

However, the RescuePro software had the same issue. It's not recognizing any data on the card. None of this makes any sense, since I can still see all the pictures on the camera, and this card reader and computer aren't having issues with any other cards.

Ideas? Suggestions?

->> There are several threads that have discussed similar issues which may shed light on the cause of the problem but for the moment have you tried to download directly by cable rather than using card readers ? Sometimes this works when the camera can see the images but a card reader doesn't.

If by any chance you are using a new SD card it may be the card reader firmware needs updating.

->> Ahh yes I should have mentioned the equipment being used earlier. I was shooting with a Canon 7D, using an 8 gig CF card. That size card has worked fine in the past, though I hadn't used that exact card before (but another photographer had many times, with no problems).

I got several e-mails recommending using the cord directly. That's a good idea, one that I hadn't considered. I'll definitely try that today. Thanks!
