->> Any calibration is better than none. I've used the Pantone Spyder (with those horrendous, big suction cups) on Trinitron CRTs back in the day... then later, for laptops I started using the Pantone Huey Pro (small, cheap, easy to use...) http://www.pantone.com/pages/products/product.aspx?pid=562
But most recently, I bought a ColorMunki Photo (an x-Rite product) to calibrate my newer desktop LCD screens and I've been very happy with that. http://www.xrite.com/product_overview.aspx?ID=1115
In particular, I wanted a device that can calibrate projectors as well (since I teach) since I found so many projectors so poorly calibrated. The ColorMunki can do projectors (that sold it for me) and also has a method for calibrating a printer if you need a closer match to screen colors - not your case, but maybe for others.
I still like the Huey... it's tiny!
Cheers!

| ->> I took my iMac to the Apple store about two weeks ago to calibrated as much as possible (better than none). They recommended for me to buy Huey Pro from Mac Expo in SF in January. They offer discount on products in trade shows. Something to consider if you want a discount. |

->> I am using the Spyder3Pro from Datacolor.

It supports dual monitor setups and has proven to delivery excellent results. (MacPro Intel) Keep in mind your color settings that you are using in Photoshop as well as the application that you are printing from. Calibration is only one vital system maintenance to consider. Keep in mind performing these monthly (or sooner) procedures are critical in accurate color balance. |
