Audio Slideshow critiques

->> I've just put together my first major audio slideshow and was hoping to get some feedback on it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKAVhEZjgO0

I produced it in SoundSlides and used a Zoom H2 to record the interview, which is a great recorder and has A LOT to it, so any tips using it would be awesome too.

I've made a few other test audio slideshows with it, like this one:

I've having trouble getting the slideshows up via FTP is why they're .mov files...

I know everyone is busy around this time of the year, so I appreciate any feedback.

->> I would suggest not firing the camera during the interview process. It is very distracting and can easily be avoided. Also, there seems to be some sort of "tin" sound in the audio. Kinda like she's talking inside of a tunnel or something...it's minor, but I noticed it. She talked about having MS and cancer so I was wondering if you could possibly go back and do some photography related to her condition(s) that have her using the marijuana treatment? That would give you some more variety on your images. Something from her day to day life dealing with her medical issues. It's a nice start, but remember that your audio can make or break your slide show so it should be treated as just as important as the images. Nice first attempt...Dan.

->> Dan,

Yeah, the camera is quite annoying, but as for now, this is my final product. We're launching it as the first multimedia piece with this week's cover story on medical pot in town.

I gotta work on aligning the images and sound better and cleaner audio.

Thanks for the advice.

->> Nic,
No problem. Most of the time I use a wireless mic on my subject when I'm shooting because the audio really turns out clean and makes you feel like you are right next to the person. It's a lot different than an audio recorder placed somewhere in the room trying to pick up everything. (although at times I will use a second audio recorder at the same time to pick up the general ambient sound) I do all of my audio levels manually too. As far as the shutter getting picked up in the audio, I try to time my shooting so that it isn't when someone is talking. If I shoot during those down times, or brief gaps in between people having a conversation, it's easy to edit out. Again, nice first attempt and good luck with your second endeavor! Dan.
