->> The place, not the clothing brand.
As stage one of our honeymoon, my wife and I are heading down there for a couple weeks at the end of the month. I'm doing some final research in hopes of being somewhat prepared, and I'm wondering if any of you have any tips or suggestions, particularly when it comes to scenery and wildlife.
The basic itinerary is set: a couple days on Peninsula Valdez, then off to Ushuaia and Tierra del Fuego, then over to El Calafate and Perito Moreno Glacier. We'll finish things off splitting time between Fitz Roy and Torres del Paine.
The trip will feature a mix of domestic flights and car rentals. We do hike, but are not hardcore. I'll also be toting a 500mm lens around, since this is mainly a wildlife trip. If anyone who's visited has suggestions on hot spots or view points in any of these places (particularly Fitz Roy/Paine), I certainly welcome them.
Thanks,
Max |

| ->> Volcano Villarica is an incredible hike! It takes about 6 hours but looking at the bubbling lava is really awesome. Plus, it only takes about an hour to slide down in the end. It's near the town of Pucon. Let me know if you want more ideas. I spent 3 weeks there in 1998 shooting a land rover expedition called camel trophy for USA Today. We drove from Santiago to Ushuaia. I have maps and journal entries with gps locations to some of the highlights. |
