I want to keep my long distance and roaming fees from getting astronomical so what should I do when I get there? Should I buy a prepaid phone, or sim card? Are there "long distance," texting charges? I was able to buy minutes as needed at most of the little convenience stores in Guatemala City and Antigua. I was able to call the states, but texts did not go through. I did not however make any calls or use the internet on it so I can't comment about that. Once you arrive buy a sim and add money on it and you are good to go. If you are overseas for any long amount of time call AT&T and do a suspend reduce plan.
