->> Just when you thought I had my shot for the year with big wave surfing, I'm back, and this time with HOT LAVA!
I shot this footage off the Big Island of Hawaii from the LavaKai tour boat as the lava flowed in the ocean. This flow has actually made the island bigger over the years and the boat gets you right to the point of impact with the sea.

If you want to see lava up close and personal this is the way to go. I highly recommend the trip which lasts around 2.5 hours. For more information go to lavaocean.com It's pretty awesome to be that close to it and you do feel the heat from the flow and the heated ocean water. The sunrise tour has the best light and calmest seas.
Technical info: Canon 7D w/16-35 lens, and yes, I used Smooth Cam in Final Cut Pro. That ocean is a bit unstable....Next time, I'm taking a gyro! |

->> Great stuff once again PF.
I was curious if you use a steadicam with your 7D and if you would recommend it. I have a 7D and am starting to do more video with it.
Thanks! |
