Momentary lapse of reason

->> GOD what was I thinking... I was rear ended (quite hard) by one of my neighbors in an Escalade. We pulled to the side to inspect damage and trade info and he was being unusually quiet and matter of fact. I drive a lifted Jeep Rubicon with an over sized tire carrier surrounded by steel so I didn't notice any obvious damage. We exchanged info and that's when it hit me... Friggin guy's hammered! I could smell the alcohol big time at this point and it all came to me. This dude it tanked and I now know why he hit me at a red light. I absolutley despise drunk drivers. I lost a loved one a few years back and have been subjected to their BS thought process ever since. My wife and kids were hit and a drunk completely wrecked our Benz only 3 years ago. Now this. I tossed the guys keys in the bushes and made him walk the block home. Just to save peace in the neighborhood instead of 911 and him getting locked up. I get home and a couple hours later my back, neck and legs are cramping up like I'm dehydrated or something. I go to get my gear from the Jeep and WTF??? the UV Lens is smashed, I now have a nice gouge in my Mark III LCD because I keep my gear on the seat. Now I have to pray that when I go to this guy he'll "Remember" the fact I didn't rat his ass out and call 911 so he could be hauled off to JAIL which is where he belonged. and ask him to pay for the damages. Not sure about the body aches yet. I worked hard today and I'm hoping I'm just sore and it's a coincidence. Man what the ..... was I thinking?

->> If you are bold enough to throw his keys in the bushes, why didn't you just call the cops since he was trashed? You sound fearless to me. You can't reason with drunks IMO and he is going to kill someone. It will shock me if he remembers that you didn't have his behind locked up. Those aches/pains are from being rear-ended. As me how I know. I drive a lifted Wrangler also and it amazes me how although Wranglers have no rear end really, people still like to get all up on us till we get hit. I hope your not banged up too bad and you may want to get checked out. I had to go to PT the last accident I was in because my shoulder was messed up. He's going to kill someone if gets behind that wheel again.

->> go get checked out. This happened to me in 1992 while I was en route to an assignment. My car looked more banged up but I thought I was ok, and went on to the shoot. The next day I couldn't move. Long story short-I have a herniated disc from this accident and trust me-the older you get, the worse it will get. Go get checked out ASAP-you may even have hit your head without realizing it
