->> Apparently Google and NYC are trying to enter a deal where Google would digitize 90,000 images the city originally shot of building for tax purposes. Then the images would be then linked to on Google maps and people would more readily be able to see the images and buy prints. Right now people have to go to a city office, have a block and lot # and look at microfiche.
Sounds like a really cool idea, yet there are some who aren't sure about Google being given the job.
It makes me wonder about other cities or companies that have extensive image archives that aren't utilizing them to the full extent because the people who have control of them are small minded and don't see the potential. For people like that it seems like the control becomes more important than the actual images

Yeah, instead they should give the job to somebody who knows about categorizing and retrieving stuff.
