->> Fairchild Gardens in South Miami. Vizcaya, a Italian Renaissance-style villa and formal gardens built in 1916 as the winter residence of industrialist James Deering would be two cool places to check out. Might want to drive down to Key West. Interesting drive and Key West is another world.
Have fun.

| ->> Take one of the Duck tours from South Beach. Those are fun! Get to see some great houses and landmarks you can't see from the road! |

->> Monty, I lived in Miami for a year. I know it sounds stupid, but I loved Parrot Jungle. It wasn't cheezy at all. They have huge beautiful birds that eat seeds out of your hands.
Just be sure to rent a GPS so you don't end up lost in some neighborhood you shouldn't be in. Miami has some very scary places as well as some beautiful ones. You don't want to be driving around with a map in your hands and get tagged as a tourist. Be sure to keep your windows rolled up and doors locked. I don't want to be alarmist, but since you are from Maine, you might not believe that people can rip the necklace off your neck at a stoplight. |
