An interesting theory to pricing photography

->> Was researching some property pricing and found this. I think I might stick to my formula of profit over break even, but interesting still.

->> Interesting theory.
I've never lived North of I-10. I'm not sure I have a furnace or that we have furnace repairmen.
1.7 x 0 = 0.
I guess I should work for credit. |

->> Interesting way of looking at pricing although a little shy of what I charged before the $25.00-per-house-retired-with-government-pension guy popped up.
Thomas, do you get your AC serviced? Might be similar to a furnace check.

->> Some photographers consider themselves technicians while other of us consider ourselves artists.
Did you hear the story about the artist Van Gogh in the 1880's while sitting on a street corner?
A woman saw him painting on the street corner and asked that he draw her portrait.
Within a few minutes he handed her the painting and she asked how much, "330 pounds" he said. "What!" the woman exclaimed, "why it only took you a few minutes".
Gogh replied, "no mam, it took me a lifetime".
I charge what I'm worth and I know that it does not compare to any furnace or AC check. |

->> I had my footing tiles digitally inspected a couple weeks ago. $150 - it took about 40 minutes and I didn't even get a copy of the video (actually it was done in real time).
The last time I hired a plumber to do actual plumbing work (more than just an inspection) they charged me one hour just to come and give me a quote - $75. I got credit for the $75 if I hired him. I did, but if I would have got more than one quote, I'd have been out quote money just for shopping around.
The $75 an hour plumber completed the assigned work all with tools he could have rented - including the van he came in that hauled all those tools. Actually all he needed for my work was a couple pair of channel locks, some steel brushes and soldering equipment, a plastic pipe cutter and some glue. Well, add a tape measure and level. All of which could have been bought for less than a 70-200 2.8 non-IS. Ok, the city and state require him to be licensed - I guess that makes him more professional than we photographers.
I used to do some custom wood working for a couple of trophy shops. 3x * supplies was my pricing model. It worked well.
What's all that mean? I haven't the foggiest, I just felt like typing tonight. |
