| ->> My 1D Mark II is suddenly taking a very long time to upload to the computer. I have used the memory card reader and the camera directly to the computer, got the same results. Last week I uploaded 450 pictures and it took 2 1/2 hour. What seems to be the problem? |

->> we'll need more info...... Computer Mac or PC? OS version?
First thing that screams out at me is something is hogging the USB buss. Have you added any new USB hardware in the last few weeks? |

| ->> Mac OSX. I haven't add any new USB hardware. I just realized that I ought to test it using my macbook pro and see if I get a different result. |

->> How are you transferring the images from card/camera to the computer?
I had a problem last week and downloaded/installed the lastest version of Photo Mechanic and now everything works fine...

->> Memory card speed can be a factor, the USB wire (Make sure it isn't an old 1.0 instead of the USB 2.0) I prefer Firewire 800.
Have you done a Disk fragmentation lately or permissions repair?
If moving photos to the computer hard drive itself, is it more than 70% full?
All those things can be factors... |

| ->> I got the same result from my macbook pro. I tested it both using Lightroom 2 and Adobe Bridge CS4 and got the same result. I'll test it on Photo Mechanic tonight and see what happens. The memory card is 8GB and the USB wire isn't old. My gut feeling is it is either the camera or the memory card. |

->> Sina,
Are are you using the camera connected directly to your computer? Use a card reader - it will be faster and will also save your camera battery.
Also, how full are your hard drives, you should have at least 10-15% of your total hard drive space free - otherwise you can get significant slow downs and other problems. |

| ->> okay, I used memory card reader directly to Photo Mechanic tonight and it is much faster. This what I will use from now on... Thanks friends for your feedback! :-) |

->> Hmmm...that's interesting...since you said:
"I have used the memory card reader and the camera directly to the computer, got the same results"
So what's different now? Aren't you doing the same thing you did before?

->> Sina...what OS are you running?
FYI...there are some confirmed "issues" with Snow Leopard.
Upgrading to PM 4.6.2.1 when you can is recommended ...you can download it here:

| ->> Delanne, My macbook pro is new and its much faster than my two-yr old iMac. Like N. Scott Trimble's comment, I'd need to clean up the computer hard drive. My external hard drive died on me a couple of weeks ago and I have not been able to clean up my hard drive since then. |
