->> So as I am getting ready to get my remote kit ready, there is something I have an idea about. After reading Darrell miho's post about remotes, I have come up with another idea for using the two Magic arms to support the camera and I want your opinions.

My idea is to get a magic arm such as:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=cart&A=details&Q=&sku=553...

to support the camera itself.

I would also get three of these:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=cart&A=details&Q=&sku=371...

to attach the magic arm to the backboard or whatever I use it for.

But For the second magic arm I would get this:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=cart&A=details&Q=&sku=519...

and it would hold the front end of the lens up by placing it in between the the sides of the base.

What do you all think? or should I just get another one of the clamps and place it on top of the second magic arm for extra support?

Thanks guys.

Your idea seems good but it probably won't support the camera and keep it in place very well.

I did a few backboard remotes last season and always used two arms with one clamped to the camera's magic arm to hold it in place so the camera doesn't move. The camera still moved on occasion with a powerful dunk.

Two magic arms is the best way to go, one to hold the camera and the second, with two superclamps, to provide additional support to the magic arm with the camera on it.

Don't forget safety cables, make sure the whole thing is cabled in and tight. Using the camera strap as your safety won't cut it.

Someone at one of our basketball games a couple years back didn't have their backboard remote secured correctly and it actually fell during the game, the only thing that saved it from hitting the floor was the camera strap. They had to stop play so it could be removed. As a result there is pretty much a ban conference wide on glass remotes now.

->> joel,

The base would hold the front of the lens up and the other end would be clamped down..

Like I said, this was just an idea.
