->> Great shots; love the close-up.
Can hardly wait to get my hands on this camera (hopefully within a week). Found these samples to be very compelling as well: http://moosepeterson.com/blog/?p=10243 |

->> Great shots, though could they use some more post processing? (or maybe better WB settings in camera?). To me this doesn't really "show off" the low light capabilities of the new camera body. I wasn't in the arena so I don't know how I would have handled it, or whether I could have adjusted out some of the yellow in post.....
The shots, however, are great, particularly the first shot and the close up. |

| ->> Hmmmmmmm. Yeah I'm not really much of a post op guy and they do seem a bit warm. I think this might be due to the fact that I shot on the "vivid" setting and I usually don't do that for indoor and /or night shoots. The key was to be able to shoot at such a high ASA/ISO and not worry about noise. Higher asa=faster shutter=less images lost to movement. I think my math is correct. |

| ->> Nice stuff Robert. My exposure there was 3200 iso at 800th 2.8 on a D3. What were you shooting at? One hell of a fight BTW. |

| ->> I'm impressed by the photos. I'm convince the operator is better than the camera! Seriously, the photos are that good. If they were on film, they'd still be incredible photos. Photo number two is fantastic. And photo eight is a very personal type of photo that makes you see the athlete as a real person and not a super human gladiator. There's a sense of mourning illustrated by the expression of his mother's face. Photo five is confrontational. You get the idea the trainer would like to knock Robert to the ground like an NBC camera man. You feel like you're seeing something, the trainer doesn't want you to witness. |

| ->> 5000 ISO/ASA...And I alternated between 1/1600 at 2.8 to 1/1250 at 3.2 with the D3s. The corner shots were made with the D3 (ASA 3200 at 1/1000 at 2.8 or the equivalent) |

->> After shooting UFC 105, I hooked up with a bunch of UFC brass & fighters who where staying up till the early hours to watch the Pacquiao-Cotto fight on a large screen back at the hotel. I kept my eye out to see who was shooting but it was more than a little tough to match faces to SS.com members :)
Interesting on the lighting conditions; my UFC shots were 1/800 sec, ISO 3200 and f/4 on a D3 with a WB dialed in at 3030K, also shooting Vivid files. I'd have thought that a pro level boxing match would have had brigher lights??
That said I'm not surprised that Robert could push the ISO to 5000 and get clean files with the D3S. I'd had a play with one last Tuesday and came away quite impressed, though I couldn't get a loaner to shoot the UFC event with, ha!
I'd love to have a stab at shooting a boxing match at this sort of level. I don't think I have to tell Robert that he done a great job and put that shiny new tool to good use ;) |

| ->> Mine were shot with a Mark III in my gallery, I was at iso 2500 at 640th and 3.2...I did shoot an undercard bout with the Mark IV and thought it was very impressive, I did some files at 6400 and thought they were very clean...and Mark you are dead on, the fight was great...could have use less hours in the arena waiting to hang that darn remote though!!! Bello and I got cut off by a lunch break and then the hanging of banners, it started getting funny after awhile... |
