->> The Annenberg Space For Photography is having one of the most incredible sport speaker series in the next 16 weeks, starting with one of the best ever sports photographers in the world, Walter Iooss. Tomorrow night, November 14th Iooss is speaking on sports. Iooss and Neil Leifer will exhibit sports images at the gallery as well.
Walter Iooss has over 300 Sports Illustrated covers to his credit and has done anything and everything there is to do with sports and music over his career. Walter Iooss is followed by Howard Schatz on December 3rd.He will speak about his collection of water images and his books.
Schatz is followed by Rick Rickman, December 10th, who just published an inspiring book on elder athletes and will speak on that quest to create a unique book and body of work.
Rickman is followed by the amazing Lucy Nicholson on December 17th who will speak about what is involved in covering major sporting events for a wire service and her creative approch to sports photography.
Nicholson is followed by Neil Leifer, January 7th, who has spent 50 years covering sports for everyone imaginable and has several books out about sports and it's amazing nature. Leifer is truly a sports photographer's sports photographer.
Leifer is followed by the exceptional Jimmy Colton on January 14th. Colton's talk is titled; Sports Photography, The Ooooh Factor. If anyone in this country understands what that is, it's Jimmy Colton. He has a long standing history in photography and is currently the photography editor for Sports Illustrated.
Colton is followed by Art Brewer, January 21st, and Brewer will amaze the audience with his surfing work. He will also discuss his career and books. Brewer has long been considered the best in the surf industry.
This is truly one of the finest line-ups of sports related speakers ever to be pulled together I think and should be enlightening to listen to. What a great opportunity for people to see such diversity of talent and knowledge in such a short time. Here is a link to the Annenberg site.

->> Thanks for the link Cantor- and thanks to Rick for starting this thread back in November.
I was not able to see Rick's great show, but I made it last week to see Jimmy Colton- and the Annenberg Space is really terrific.
Jim McNay put together a little story about this wonderful new gallery for our site yesterday:

I hope to make in back down there in February for another event. |
