Suddenly search doesn't work on my Mac
Matt Cashore, Photographer

->> Hi-

Been chasing this problem off and on all day--I've read & tried various suggestions from Apple's support forums, downloaded various software fixes like MainMenu and still no luck, so now I'll try posting here in hopes somebody's experienced and successfully fixed this issue.

Suddenly I can't search anything on my main Mac. Not the internal or external hard drives. I can save something to the desktop, do a search (either via 'command-f' or by clicking the spotlight icon) on the thing I can see with my own eyeballs is right on the desktop and the computer can't find it. The search function spins and spins and comes up with nothing. This is all of a sudden, too.

Thanks for any help.

->> Have you tried doing a force quit/reboot on the finder? If not, go to the apple menu--->Force Quit--->Finder--->Relaunch.

It may help. It may not. Its worth a try though.

good luck

->> Why don't you set up another account on the computer and log in with it and see if spotlight works. That way you could see if it is a local account problem or global.
