->> I didn't know Chris, but I'm a cyclist. It's getting harder to feel safe as we try to share the road. In this case...it sounds like he was on a rails-to-trails trail away from traffic. Sorry to hear about this:

"A 36-year-old Ocoee man was killed this morning while riding his bicycle on the West Orange Trail. Chris Livingston, a husband and father of a 2-year-old boy, was hit by a car while riding on the trail near Cleaveland Road, according to Apopka police. Livingston, a local photographer, was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he died. Livingston was southbound on the bike trail when he was hit by a woman driving eastbound on Cleaveland Road, said police spokesman Officer Steve Popp. "

->> When I first moved to Florida he was one of the first photographers that I encountered and he helped me find my way around here. We shared several rides up to Gainesville, and he was always genuine whenever our paths crossed in the years since.

I know from the phone calls flying around down here this afternoon that he will be missed by his photography family, though most of our thoughts are with his wife and young son who turns two tomorrow.

The outpouring of sincere emotion on his Facebook page today attests to the fact that he was a good photographer but, more importantly, an even better man, husband and father.

If you guys in Orlando could please keep us up to date on arrangements for his service or memorial funds, we would appreciate it.

My thoughts and deep condolences to his wife and young child.

He always seemed to view everything as an opportunity, no matter how grim. As a cyclist as well, this hits home twice as hard. We really lost as Matt said "one of the good guys". Cheers my friend, we'll keep an eye on your family and see ya on the other side.

Chris always had a smile on his face, even in stressful situations and he was one to always take the time to say hello, even if he didn't know you.
I hope that his family can get through this hard time and know that everyone here will keep them in our prayers.
I still can't get over this news...he will be truly missed.

I've ridden the West Orange Trail many times myself thinking I was safe on an off-road paved trail. It must have happened at a crossing. How very sad for his young family.

Like Alex said, no matter the situation Chris always had a smile, and ALWAYS came back with a shot that either no one had thought of, or if they had already tried to shoot it, he created a shot that made them go wow.

.... like the time we photographed that pitcher who told us what he was going to do. Or assisting on that wedding. Or hauling all that stuff in Vegas. Or him never letting me forget that i backed into that taxi in Key West. Or what i said to that state trooper.

Somehow i found his voice telling me what to do during my portrait shoot today.

http://www2.tbo.com/content/2009/nov/11/tampa-born-photographer-found-succe.../

And on his Facebook page his father wrote a very touching tribute, with his recollection of some of Chris's words that help describe the type of man that so many people are remembering..."when I turned 16 and my friends were getting cars, my dad gave me his 35mm camera and 2 lens. That camera took me to more places than any car would have."
