->> Things happen at the worst times!!
I was covering a College Championship game today and was changing from my 500MM lense to my 24-70 to get the onfield celebration shots using one body with the 24-70 and the other with my 70-200 when the lense mount pin gets stuck and I could not attach the lense.
I got by with one body but would have liked the two.
I have been able to loosen the two screws and the pin popped out but it is still getting stuck.
I am sure this has happened to others and there is a fix. does this need to go to Midstate or is it something I can do??

->> Jim only thing that I can think of if the pin got stuck a second time is that the pin is bent. I know one shooter who twists lenses on to a body with so much force I keep expecting to see it spin 360 in the mount.
Not saying you are doing the same thing but eventually those pins do bend. How old is the body? |

->> Eric, Greg, It is a mark IIN and is 3-4 years old.
I don't think it is bent but could have a bur on it. I will be taking into work tomorrow and looking under a microscope, maybe I can see something. I just put a lense on and off 10 times and no sticking , it just had to do it at the worst possible time, still got what I needed and more but it could have been easier.

->> The pin getting stuck in is an age old Canon problem that has been around for years.....
this is a good trick for an instant fix, but it doesn't always work and isn't for the faint hearted....(didn't work on my mk3 last time I tried it, so required a trip to Canon for repair)
get a substantial sized coin ( £1 coin is king at this ) and tap VERY firmly next to the stuck pin on the body mount. After a few good blows the pin should release/pop out... |

->> As Richard said, use a coin or key....but use gravity and hold the camera with the front of it facing the ground.
Happened with my mark II's. Sent them in and Canon took care of it.

| ->> I have that problem right now and the MKIIN is stuck to the Extender 1.4EX II. I just got the MKIIN back from Canon for the locking pin problem and first time I used it at football yesterday it locked into extender and won't budge. It always happens when the 400, 2.8 is involved, don't know why. This is getting expensive just with the shipping alone. |

| ->> Would happen periodically with my Mark III. I would repeatedly push lens release button while pressing the pin with the tip of a paper clip. Always popped back out eventually. |

| ->> Last month I had mine replaced on my Mark III, because it was doing the same thing as what you were describing. You should submit it to Canon for repair because the downside is that if you don't and the camera body falls off the lens your repairs will be much more expensive. |
