->> As our Publisher announces another round of Voluntary Separation Packages in addition to the paper looking to outsource all our copy editing and pagination, one copy editor took the red pen to his memo.

->> They say they haven't firmed it up yet or if they will do it at all.
But in talks with our union it looks like they are thinking about a company called Page Masters out of Australia.
Looks like that company will open up a shop here in Canada just for us and the contracting out they will most likely do at Canadian Press (Canada's AP)

->> I like the comment, "Fine. That was a poorly-worded memo. However, nothing in the markup indicates why the Star needs in-house editors."

The mark-up is the explanation.

Some people just will never get it.

->> Steve, will this affect the staff photographers and photo editors? and if so what plans, if any, will they have for the photo editing?

I pray it all works out.

Regards,

Nick

->> When you are trying to side step the real issues in a memo, things can tend to get "wordy". Great work by the mystery editor.

Once again, I am reminded of this old Mark Twain quote:

"Man is the only animal that blushes, or needs to."
