->> For those who have used both, any comments on the 'best' software? I'll ask for for functionality and useability/learning as well. I've used both, prefer dFine, but may just be missing something on how to really use NN without a good manual.

->> Have you looked at Noiseware's product? I believe it's called Imagenomic. I bought it as a photoshop plugin a long while ago, and have been totally happy using it ever since. I've tried Noise Ninja and a couple of other products, but I've been happiest with Noiseware. And for ease of use, they have sliders that help you control what level of noise reduction, sharpening, or mid-tone contrast you want to have during the automated process. Makes it very simple, and it has made lots of shots I've taken at ISO6400 with a Canon MarkIII look good enough to blow up to 20x30.

->> I don't know if I'm a little abnormal or not, but I use all of the industry standards: Neat Image, Imagenomic, NN and Nik kind of interchangeably. I probably use Imagenomic and Neat Image the most and have several times used both on the same image. I mainly use the Nik one for the "skin" option. In other words I'll run a high ISO picture through Imagenomic and then touch up the skin if needed with Nik. For me it always seems that for different jobs, different ones work better. The one I use the least would be NN though. I'm not sure why...maybe I just haven't played with the many settings enough.

->> DFine is the best. I used the Noise Ninja for years, but hated the smooth effect I was getting from it when I was covering something in a dark gym. I brought DFine along with several other NIK products and fell in love with DFine. Hope that helps.

->> I never really liked Dfine and thought Noise Ninja was the best. I liked that I could calibrate my own camera to my tastes.
Never had an image look smooth using Ninja |

->> Since the introduction of better noise reduction tools in ACR 6.x/LR 3.x ... I rarely seem to have any need for other noise reduction plugins ... though I was always very pleased with Noise Ninja ...
