->> I use an Epson 4000 at home, but I'm considering purchasing a roll printer for the office. What types of roll printers are you all using? I've heard really good things about the Canon Prograf printers. Opinions???

->> We use an Epson 4800 both in the office and on the road at events. I am also considering a 7800 (used or refub) in the future. I like the fact that I will only have to stock one ink for both printers. I already use the 220ml carts in the 4800 so keeping a backup set that can just as easily get popped into either printer is a plus.

->> We use an Epson 7800. GREAT! printer. It allows us to do large custom posters and we even use it for smaller 8"X10" prints if we are on a deadline and can't wait for the lab. If you can get a used one, I'd highly recommend it. The only negative is that it is a big machine and not something I would take on the road.

->> I have a 24" Epson 7880. Before the purchase I was looking at the HP model but I always had great luck with Epson so I picked up the 7880 when it came out in 07. No regrets it's been on 24/7 for two years now.

->> Hi Darren,

I own an Epson 4800 and a Canon iPF6100. Both are fine printers, but the Canon is a much better machine in my opinion. First of all, it's much much faster. The canon Lucia inks have less bronzing, the 16bit print plugin is pretty effective, simple to use and accessible within Photoshop. And of course, I can print wider on the Canon. Lastly, I always disliked the way blues came out on the Epson. Always too magenta/purple, even with the ImagePrint RIP. So I had to compensate in photoshop before printing on the 4800.

I hope that helps.

K
