->> Dave at the events that I'm at the tee vendors do a KILLING. I did a softball tourney this summer and the guy doing airbrushed tee's was busy from the minute he turned on the compressor to the minute he turned it off. Plus he was airbrushing batting helmets at $25/35 a pop. I'll bet he does 48k over the summer EASILY. In the case of the helmets his only materials cost was paint and clearcoat.
Some events just have their logo/roster screened as a heat transfer and allow you to personalize the tee with a # or name. In those cases the inventory (tee's) can get carried over to the next event and you either toss or shelf the x-fers for next year. No wasted stock of tees from the 2009 Toe Jam 5K Run!
I just had a new batch of x-fers made and the cost is SUPER reasonable if you do it right. I have our company name done on a LARGE sheet with 6 tee sized 2 hat and 4 dress/polo impressions to a sheet. 100 sheets nets 300 tees (double sided) 200 hats and 400 dress shirts.
There are now printers that print directly on to the shirt and yes I have been looking seriously at those. I know that if we offered action photos on tee's at the event we do very well. The hard sell would be (rightfully) going up against the tee vendor. |
