->> Ok I am looking at getting some pocket wizards for my canon flash heads but I have really no clue on what I need.
I own a 540EZ and a 550 canon flash head. I was told I need a pocket wizard setup to mount these flashes in soft boxes off the camera. So I guess what do I need to purchase to make these flashes fire off. My 550 flash head has the sinc options while the 540 would have to be set up in manuel mode.
I guess if anybody has shot with this set up can you fill me in. |

->> Jesse,
Here's what I've done. To use standard hotshoe flash units with my pocketwizards, I purchased some hotshoe to PC adapters. This is used to convert the hotshoe of the flash to a standard PC sync. Like this:

I don't remember them being more than $10, but that was a few years ago. I found them at both Ritz and Glazers. They should be a fairly common item.
Then, to connect that to the PocketWizard, you'll need these:

Once you have those, you're all set. But I will warn you.... I lost all 3 of my small pocketwizard adapters, so make sure to keep track of them. |

I make remotes with 20 mile range www.robertbenson.com/blog that will fix the 30 foot range issue. |

| ->> Very happy with Flash Zebra replacement foot to adapt to the 3.5mm mono cord. http://www.flashzebra.com/canon580ex_footassembly.shtml Keeps all my cords and connections simple as they are the same for my Alien Bees. |

->> Ok dumb question but I need to know.
These The PocketWizard Plus II Transceiver's I need to know what do I buy to make these fire. I plan on purchasing The PocketWizard Plus II Transceiver and placing it on a camera about 30 feet away. I don't have the option of a 30 ft cable.
So what do I need to purchase as the trigger switch? |

| ->> You need two PWs. One on the camera, attached to a pre-release cable. The test button on the other PW will suffice to trigger the camera. |

->> Jesse,
Your original post said you wanted to trigger strobes. But in your post above you mention that you are looking to trigger a camera that's 30' away. I guess I'm confused. What, exactly, are you trying to accomplish?
Are you shooting with the camera and trying to trigger off-camera strobes that are 30' away, or are you standing 30' away from your camera and trying to expose a frame?
We can certainly help but we may need a bit more info, that's all.

| ->> I am looking at doing both. Shooting off camera with a flash and having a camera set up across the way so I can get two angles. I got by with my Alien Bee set up for a while but I need to upgrade to the pocket wizard setup. |
