->> the focus mechanism on one of my mark2n's seems have an attitude. i use the rear button to activate focus. it attempts to find the target, then stops. i press again and it will get closer to the target, but still not focus. i have to press the button 5 times before it makes it all the way to the focal length i'm targeting. in other words, if the target is 50 ft away, it will stop at 10 ft. then 20, 30 40 and finally focus.
all of this is in the servo focus mode. it is not an obvious user error. but i suppose it could be a custom function that im not familiar with that was selected by mistake?
anyone? |

->> First things first...
Clear ALL Custom Functions...
Then, try it again. IF you have a custom function selected by mistake, this should clear it all out, but this sounds like a problem with the AF System though.
If all else fails, send it to Canon.

| ->> Check the mounts on your camera and lenses. Tighten all the screws and clean the contacts. It's amazing what a little dirt will do to mess up your focusing or other function. |
