| ->> Will a Canon FD lens work on an EF camera? I know it won't auto focus but I was wondering if I would need some type of adapter or would it fit and everything work except the AF? |

->> Adapters are made to go between an FD Canon lens and the EOS body. I have one about 15 years ago while I was switching systems. It was awful. The images looked real bad, so I ended up just buying all the new EF glass that I needed. Maybe things have changed and someone makes a good adapter.
I don't remember how the adapter made the aperture close on the FD lens. |

| ->> I bought a cheapo FD to EF adapter. It works alright. Due to the design of FD lenses, to achieve infinity focus, all the adapters need glass to focus correctly on EF mounts. So you end up losing a lot of image quality and the adapters end up being something like a 1.37x extender. |

->> There is an OEM adapter out there that is quite expensive if you find one. My experience with the cheap ones (found on e-bay, etc.) is similar to those stated above - with the glass in, the IQ really suffers.
If you take out the glass, you restore image quality, but lose infinity focus. The adapter I have (I took out the glass) lets me use some old FD macro lenses on an EOS body. |
