->> can anyone offer up any updates to the information in the guide area about Camp Randal Stadium. The last update was 2004. I might be shooting the Iowa Wisconsin game this weekend. Internet? Wireless? sidelines? anything would be helpful.
Thanks. |

->> Louis,
I haven't shot the Badgers for a number of years but I will try to help. The sidelines are not as crowded as past years, but you are limited to where you can shoot. In the past you can't shoot from the northeast corner of the field which happens to be the student section. Ask any one of the many student photographers and they will tell you more specifically. They do have high speed wireless in the media room under the field house. You can get a password when you get there.
Since it is a 11:00am game you should have great light.
Parking is a problem since the stadium is on the edge of campus near residential neighborhoods. If you get their early enough you can find street parking or pay to park in someones yard.
Hope this helps a little bit. It should be a great game, have fun. |

->> Yes, I will be there this weekend and have been shooting there the last couple years. I am assuming you are in parking lot 29 as am I, the walk from the lot to the stadium is not short so allow yourself atleast 15min for that. If you don't have your credential and need to pick it up from will call, that will be an even longer walk. As for wireless, yes there is a media center that provides wireless. accomidations are limited so get there early. Also sidelines, kneal in the endzones, also you cannot shoot anywhere around the badgers fan section, I can fill you in on that at the game or via phone. Shoot me an email if you have any other questions.

->> I can't help because it's been so long since I shot there. Wireless? Heck, cell phones hadn't even been invented yet (not to mention autofocus). :-)
"also you cannot shoot anywhere around the badgers fan section"
Just curious, does that mean you're not allowed to shoot there? Or is it what I think it means--that for your own safety you don't want to? ;-) |

| ->> That means you cannot post up and shoot from the 10 yard line to near side of the goal post, on the fan section. So that means on that Badgers fan section endzone, you can only shoot on one half of the endzone, and between the 10 yard line and the vistors bench. You can still walk through there, you cannot stop for any reason. |

->> Back in the 90's when you could shoot from the end zone corner near the student section, the photographers were targets. UW students would take marshmallows and put a penny in the middle to give them some weight and throw them at anything in front of them. On warm afternoons there would be hundreds of melted marshmallows stuck to the old turf, and then the bottom of your shoes.
On the plus side you could come away with a couple of bucks in change. I was broke back then. |

| ->> I've shot there several times and they have the best photo room in the Big 10. Very spacious and they have food. I remember the wireless being very good. |
