->> I am currently working on a project and wanted to quickly tap into this community for input. Any assistance with the questions below would be greatly appreciated.
1.In your opinion, what are some of the best online photo galleries/multimedia presentations on the web? The publishers can include: news organizations, universities, government organizations (The White House), etc.
2.Are the slide shows/presentations that you like created with a purchased program or is it a proprietary piece of software?
3.What is the workflow for creating the gallery? Do the photographers create them, or does someone on the web team? When the galleries are created, are the images sized, thumbnails created and renamed manually or is a CMS system handling that?
Thanks in advance for your input.

->> John I use Soundslides, personally I think that there is plenty of room to improve the program but it does the job.
As far as sizing for galleries, we upload a thumbnail and preview folder. It is much faster to do the sizing on my side of the wire than to wait on the hosting server. I actually had Kirk at Camera Bits write a customized script that sizes, watermarks, imports php and sets up the directory structure for me in one step. Now after editing a folder of images one export function puts everything in motion and I just have to upload (ftp) the complete folder on to the server. He saved me 50% or more it terms of time. |
